Kampala Sex Workers Cry Out over Corona Virus Pandemic

‘Mistresses of the Night’ from various locations of Kampala have raised alarm over low patronage attributing it to the out break of the Corona Virus Pandemic in the country as customers suddenly lost interest.

According to a one sex worker from areas of Kabalagala, an outskirt of Kampala city that is popular for its nightlife and mainly clubbing & prostitution, the disease has put her only source of income on the line. To make matters worse, following a number of guidelines by the president to combat the killer viral infection from the spreading that also also includes a curfew from 7.pm to 6.30am, this has cut short of their operations since this is mainly their operation duration.

“Since the disease hit Uganda through majorly Kampala city, and the president emphasised restricted access to the city (renowned prostitutes spots in Kampala and other areas) and banned mass gathering, it makes us hard to get customers.. ” She said.

Some modern prostitutes such as Escort Girls that trade their services via online means such as social media and websites are also facing the same thing since public transport was banned and there is no way they can get to their customers and the vise versa.

Uganda Confirms 11 New Corona Virus Cases, All are Choir Members of Watoto Church

Uganda has confirmed eleven (11) new Corona virus cases rising the total toll to 44 patients. All the 11 are choir members of the Watoto Church, Kampala that were trapped in the quarantine as they travelled back to Uganda from the overseas.

This has been revealed by the president of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni as he was addressing the public, today evening of the 31st March 2020 from his state house in Nakasero. Museveni was clarifying about the 16 new measures to combat the COVID-19 disease from spreading among the public of which many were misinterpreted or quite not understood clearly by the public.

Of now, Uganda has not registered any death or recovery case but according to the doctors in the hospitals where the confirmed patients of this pandemic are kept, they are all in promising condition and responding well to the treatment being administered to them.

Ugandan Pastor Sent to Prison over False Talks on Covid-19 Pandemic in Africa

A Ugandan Pastor has been remamded to prison for a week over giving false news about the Corona Virus deadly Covid-19 disease.

A one Pastor Yiga Augistine of the Christian Revival Church, Kawaala in the outskirts of Kampala was remanded to Luzira High Prison by the chief magistrate following his allegations that there was no single case of the SARS-COV-2 pandemic in Africa as reported.

“Let me talk about it like this, if you like it or not, if the government punishes me or not, if you love me or not, there isn’t any Corona Virus case yet in Africa.” – Pastor Yiga alias ‘Abizaayo’ said during a live TV interview after being asked to talk about the measures being put by the Uganda government to combat the deadly infection that also include banning all public transport means, schools, churches, bars and night clubs among others.

As of today 30th March 2020, Uganda has 33 Corona Virus cases with no death or recovery recorded.

According to the state attorneys, it is punishable by law for one to give false information that could reslult into a spread of any deadly disease in Uganda as of the constitution.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time for this Pastor to face the hard side of the law as he has been arrested for a number of times by the Police over acts of child negligence and sexual harrasment to his female followers.

Uganda Confirms 8 New Cases of Corona Virus

The Ministry of Health has confirmed eight new cases of the killer Corona Virus disease of Covid-19. The announce was made on the evening of the 23rd of March 2020. This brings the number of infected people to nine. These travelled back from Dubai aboard either the Emirates and Ethiopian Airways.

According to the health minister Jane Ruth Aceng, from the 35 samples that were tested, 8 turned out positive.

“All the 8 cases are Ugandan nationals who travelled back from Dubai, UAE.; 2 on the 20/03/2020 & 6 on the 22/03/2020 aboard the Emirates and Ethiopian Airlines flights.” She said.

6/8 were intercepted at the airport with fever whereas the two were retrieved from self-quarantine area/homes.

To date, a total of 2,661 travelers including Ugandans identified as potential risk have been either under self-quarantine or institutional quarantine. Of these, 1,356 are under follow up; 774 of these are under institutional quarantine while 582 are under self-quarantine.

The Ministry of Health thereby appeals all travelers who have been in Dubai in the past two weeks to call the health desk on 0800-100-066 or 0800-203-033 for further follow-up.

Breaking News: Uganda confirms 1st case of COVID-19

Uganda has confirmed a first case of the deadly Corona Virus disease, COVID-19 today evening of 21st March 2020.

The confirmed case is a 36 year old Ugandan male who arrived from Dubai at 2:00am today, Saturday 21 March 2020 aboard Ethiopian airlines. He presented with symptoms of high fever and poor appetite.

During the screening process at the airport, his temperature was 38.7. This prompted the health teams to isolate him at the airport for further follow up. Subsequent temperatures taken at intervals of 30 minutes and one hour remained the same.

He was evacuated to Entebbe Grade B Hospital for further follow up where a nasal swab was taken for analysis.

The passenger manifest has been retrieved and all contacts are known as we are in position of the passports of all the travelers that came on that plane.

Harmonize Confirms Performance at the Eddy Kenzo Festival

As the dates for the much anticipated Eddy Kenzo Festival are drawing closer, a number of artists have come out to confirm to attend with the recent being Tanzania’s Bongo flava singer Rajab Abdul Kahali better known musically as Harmonize.

Eddy Kenzo Festival is set to rock Kololo Airstrip come 28th March and according to the former Wasafi Classic Baby singer, he will take part in making history as Kenzo holds the first-ever music festival named after a living singer in the country.

This was revealed via comment by Harmonize himself on Eddy Kenzo’s Instagram post which was promoting Harmonize’s new album, revealing that they will be meeting on 28th March at the show in Kololo.

It should be noted that Edrisa Musuuza a.k.a Kenzo and Harmonize have worked on two collaborations before with both songs; Pull Up and Inabana not disappointing so far.

Uganda’s Queen of Katwe Co-Star Nikita Waligwa Passes on at age of 15

It’s sad news allow her the globe following the death of Nikita Pearl Waligwa, Ugandan actor who appeared in Disney’s ‘Queen of Katwe’.

Nikita Waligwa passed on yesterday, Sunday 16.02.20 at the age of 15 following battling with 3 brain tumours.

She is mostly remembered with her role of Gloria in the 2016 film was based on true story of Ugandan girl Phiona Mutesi from the slums of Katwe, a surbub of Kampala, who took up chess aged 9 despite not being in school and went on to compete in international tournaments

Gloria was a friend of Phiona who explained the rules of chess to her.

She was first diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2016 and Queen of Katwe director Mira Nair reportedly mobilised people to help fund her treatment in India, with Ugandan doctors quoted as saying they did not have the necessary equipment.

She was given the all-clear in 2017 but last year was found to have another tumour and unfortunately, she couldn’t survive it past yesterday.

May her soul rest in peace.

Eddy Kenzo Delighted to meet Speaker of Parliament Kadaga, Addresses Issues Lagging behind the Music Industry

‘Semyekozo’ hit maker Edrisah Musuuza a.k.a Eddy Kenzo yesterday Monday 3rd February 2020 had a meeting with the speaker of Parliament, Hon Rebecca Kadaga from which he addressed a number of issues that he thinks are lagging behind the music industry.

From the meeting, the only Ugandan to win the BET Award urged Kadaga to hold talks with the Executive to ensure that artists who hold Uganda’s flag high at international scenes are rewarded for improving Uganda’s image abroad as he was briefing the Parliament about his achievements in the entertainment industry.

It’s been apleasure meeting the speaker of Ugandan parliament Hon Rebecca kadaga ,as an artist ,I addressed issues affecting the entertainment industry and requested for support from the Parliament especially when it comes to branding our own artists for international market,
I also requested to have a ministry in charge of entertainment to help in supporting and developing talents
