Frank Gashumba

CMI treated me like Osama yet Rwandese brought Museveni in to power.

In the morning, over 10 CMI operatives carrying American guns reportedly used in the killing of former police spokesperson, AIGP Andrew Felix Kaweesi, picked him.

“They took positions in my compound as if they had gone to arrest Osama Bin Laden or a dangerous warlord,” he narrated.

He said the state-run New vision and sister Bukedde paper said “Frank Gashumba of Rwandan origin”. “This is stupid. My parents migrated from Rwanda many years ago. I was born in Uganda.”

Gashumba claims only two tribes brought President Museveni to power–Banyarwanda and Baganda of Luweero.

4 Ways of Traveling Cheap in Uganda

0
Mountain Gorilla

Uganda receives many visitors every year including backpackers and budget travelers who feel free to live life in a foreign land as local. Well there are luxury safaris in Uganda but also budget safaris that offer freedom and value for money. If you don’t have a lot of cash and you want to explore too much, Uganda should be the countries on your bucket list in Africa. Here are some few tips on how you can cut costs on your safari tour n Uganda wildlife, nature, birding or gorilla trekking.

Travel with a Friend

You can save big on your safari in Uganda when you travel with a friend because all safari costs are shared that is accommodation, transport and other tour activities. This travel makes life easy and simple because you have someone to lean on incase of any situation. Besides, your budget Uganda safari will cost you less than when you decide to take it on alone. Plan well and talk to your friends about your travel plans in order to find a right person with the same interest.

Travel by Public Means where Possible

Not every trip in Uganda requires private safari vehicles, better to use bus than a hired vehicle on some routes and then hire a vehicle where necessary. Of course some tourist attractions in Uganda are hard to access but when you reduce the journey by using public means, it saves big. When this option you should behave like a local and don’t expect any comfort of a luxury safari in Africa. There are no private tourist vans so tourists share transport with local Ugandans. However, better to use a tour operator to guide you through the entire process if its your first time to visit Uganda.

Low season Months

Yes low season months are the best for cheap safaris in Uganda  even the famous wildlife encounter of  seeing mountain gorillas in their protected well conserved home. Imagine reserving a gorilla permit at only $450 per a a trek  in the month of April, May and November every year until 2019 when the  Uganda Wildlife Authority is planning to revise all Uganda national park fees. During this season even gorilla tours cost less from $520 per person for 3 days all inclusive, transport, accommodation and gorilla permit. It’s not only on permits but even lodges offers discounts for the low season.

Join Group Tours

If you want to save  big and also meet more new people , explore Uganda on a group safari arrangement  of 6-8 people per safari vehicle. Remember to be open minded and free to share certain trip essentials like accommodation which is a common scenario for those of the same sex. However, you can pay for a single room supplement and sleep alone a price I don’t see worth if you looking at saving big on your Africa safari tour. There are many group tours organized in the country by many tour operators including wildlife, gorillas, chimpanzee, birding etc so your interest lead to the right people.

Bobi Wine’s Message On Lifting Age Limit

0
Bobi Wine Kyagulanyi Ssentamu

Fellow Ugandans,

Yesterday the 12th day of September 2017 was a very sad day in the leadership of our country. Yet again, some of my colleague Members of Parliament who belong to the NRM Party did the most dishonorable and unpatriotic thing. They passed a resolution to remove the Presidential age-limits from the Constitution of Uganda so that President M7 can become life President.

They did this at a time when our nation has been bleeding for the past 31 years. Our country’s former glory is all gone. Corruption rates are alarming.
Service delivery is at the worst. Mothers die giving birth.Unexplained murders are everywhere and the judiciary is a mockery.

Our children face an uncertain future where unemployment is the order of the day. The national debt has turned us into slaves and the gun has become the master. The one time pearl of Africa is now a laughing stock among nations.

All public assets have been sold and as if that’s not enough to to satisfy their appetites, after selling almost all public properties, the government now wants to take people’s private land!

In response to all this, your elected members of parliament think that the best response to this crisis and national shame is to remove age limits and continue with the same nonsense. Other than think of rescuing Uganda from this mess, they are asking that Uganda sinks even deeper!

Well my message to them is this;
You are traitors. You have betrayed your country and you have sold your conscience for cheap.History will judge you very harshly. You should remember that it is your children and your children’s children who will have to inherit this mess that you are creating.

You should individually reflect on what you have just done. Remember that there will be a time when you must account for this nonsense. Yesterday those of you who put up hands to support that stupid resolution, you have put your names on the national wall of SHAME.

You should think about how you would love to be remembered- whether as men and women who loved and served their nation, or as people who thought about only themselves.

You should also remember that you swore an oath to bear true allegiance to the Republic of Uganda and uphold its Constitution. So by passing this resolution, you did exactmy the opposite of what you swore to do.

Well, the good news is that there is still time for you to withdraw your endorsements before it is too late!

And before I forget, I want to thank those few patriotic NRM Mps who rejected the madness of raping the constitution. You’re heroes and please maintain your stand. Do not bow down to pressure because your voters are watching you and they will be rewarding you.

AND TO YOU PRESIDENT MUSEVENI;

In 1986 you asked for four years to re-organize the country and hand over power to a civilian government,we agreed. You personally said that Africa’s problem was not the people but leaders who overstay in power.

In 1990, you asked for five more years to be able to enact a DURABLE CONSTITUTION for the nation and then you go,
We agreed.

In 1995, you asked for a new mandate under the Constitution, you asked for five more years,we agreed.

In 2001, you requested the nation to renew your mandate for your VERY LAST CONSTITUTIONAL TERM.
We agreed.

In 2005, you moved to remove presidential term limits. You told us that you wanted only five years to be able to consolidate your achievements.
We agreed.

In 2011, you came back. You campaigned under the prosperity for all slogan (BONA BAGAGGAWALE). You promised that poverty would be history in Uganda after that term and you would return to RWAKITURA to look after your cows….These were your words!

2016 came, and you once again asked for your very last term.
In a televised address to the Nation you swore that you would certainly NOT lead beyond 75 years of age.
You told us that after 75, a leader would no longer have the vigor required to run the country.

You promised that your last term would be a ‘hakuna mchezo’ one and pledged to end corruption.

Well Mr. President,
You have failed us on all these promises, and our hope was that you would end your rule in 2021 and give way for the nation to begin a new chapter. If you do that , the nation will be grateful for your contribution.

Bob Merely once said “YOU CAN FOOL SOME PEOPLE FOR SOME TIME, BUT YOU CAN’T FOOL ALL THE PEOPLE ALL THE TIME”.
You cannot lie to the whole nation and think that each time you will get away with it.

As a good reader of history, you should remember that history always repeats itself with leaders who thought they were wiser than their generations. Those who thought their populations were gullible and easily manipulated.

There comes a time when people are TIRED. UGANDANS ARE TIRED! They have been patient with you. They have been respectful and generous to you knowing that in 2021 a new dispensation will come.
PLEASE DO NOT ABUSE OUR TRUST AND PATIENCE.

Come out clearly and disassociate yourself from this madness. Our children want to emulate a leader who does not lie to the Country on national TV.

Come out now and repeat what you said to NTV’s Patrick Kamara program when he asked if you would go beyond 75- “Not at all, certainly not.” That’s what you said Mr. President.
As the first citizen of Uganda, you should come out and inspire the nation to always be truthful to their word because as they say, “A MAN IS ALWAYS AS GOOD AS HIS WORD”
We can not continue to have a President whose word we can no longer trust. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!

Now to you my fellow Ugandans especially the younger generation;
Here in Uganda we actually one time laughed at Zimbabwe. We laughed when Mugabe promised to rule until God calls him. We thought it was a joke, but now we share his falling and sleeping pictures on social media and he and his whole Country have become a laughing stock.

I know you know these things because most of the problems I have mentioned affect you every day. Poverty, unemployment, uncertainty, exclusion, violence at the hands of the state and many others.

We have ONLY this one chance. No matter your TRIBE, no matter your RELIGION, no matter your POLITICAL PARTY…Poverty and these terrible conditions in our country do not discriminate.
We must make the pledge that WE SHALL NOT ALLOW THIS AMENDMENT TO PASS.

Article 1 of that Constitution says that “ALL POWER BELONGS TO THE PEOPLE.” We are the people. If this Constitution is amended today, we shall have only ourselves to blame for eternity.

20 or even 30 years from now, President Museveni will be asking for more terms and you will perhaps be on your sickbed or dead! or still living in this suppressive and oppressive environment. At that time, you will look back and wish you did something today.

WE MUST DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION BEFORE IT IS TOO WEAK TO DEFEND US.

Article 3(4) of our constitution says ” All Citizens of Uganda shall have the RIGHT and DUTY at all times to defend the constitution…It also says that any person who resists the amendment of the constitution comits NO OFFENCE.

Am therefore calling upon all leaders from Religious leaders,Cultural leaders, leaders of the business community, members of Civil Society, leaders of educational institutions, journalists, bloggers, fellow artistes and all of you fellow Ugandans, Pleaaaase do not keep quiet on this very sensitive matter on the future of our Country Uganda.
As it has been said before and now seems real in our times, that “THE WORLD IS SUFFERING NOT BECAUSE OF THE WORDS OF THE EVIL PEOPLE, BUT BECAUSE OF THE SILENCE OF THE GOOD ONES.

Let’s speak up in one voice and prevent this rape of our Constitution or else your children in future will ask you what we did when the nation came to this point.

Begin today and exercise your God-given rights. Call your Member of Parliament or better still, pay them a visit and demand accountability. Stand up NOW Before it is too late.

And if you believe in this cause, please help translate this message into your own language and spread it far and wide. Let us make use of social media and this modern technology to emancipated ourselves because THE TIME IS NOW. Let’s make sure every Ugandan gets involved because we are the Country , we are the future and the future is TODAY.

I thank you
FOR GOD AND MY COUNTRY.

Hon. Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine
Kyadondo East MP

Uganda is Africa’s Best English Speaking Country- says report

0

There are 28 English speaking countries in Africa and The World Linguistic society named Uganda as the best English speaking country in the continent.

This report comes amid reports of a Miss Rwanda contestant who reportedly failed to express herself in English.

It is worthy to mention that Rwanda was not colonized by the British. It would be asking too much to expect fluency from them. Rwanda was a French speaking country recently.

Uganda speaks a dialect known as Uglish. After Uganda- Zambia, South Africa, and Kenya follow closely.

Below is a list of the top 9 best English-speaking countries in Africa.

1. Uganda
2. Zambia
3. South Africa
4. Kenya
5. Zimbabwe
6. Malawi
7. Ghana
8. Botswana
9. Sudan

10 Most Popular Waterfalls in Uganda

0

A spray of love from nature, a gentle shower… droplets on my face, the sight of the rainbow at my feet shrouded in a mighty roar; that was my first encounter with the mighty Murchison Falls. An entire river squeezes its strength and power through a 7 metre wide crack in the rocks bursting forth and pouring 40 meters downhill to continue its journey. The sound is boisterous, but I can assure you that the view is breath-taking. You would want time to stand still as you take it in using literally all your senses. Sir Samuel Baker and his wife Florence were the first Europeans to find the falls and Baker decided to name them after Sir Roderick Murchison the then president of the Royal Geographical Society. In the 1970s during the regime of Idi Amin the falls were renamed Kabalega Falls after Omukama Kabalega of Bunyoro but the name was changed back to Murchison Falls following the downfall of Idi Amin.

Once upon a time not too long ago, 2011 to be exact, about 8km from Jinja town was a spectacular scenic spot with a kilometre of raging large rapids, forested islands in the Nile and an abundance of bird life on River Nile. This area was famous for white water rafting and kayaking.

This though is no more because the raging power along the first 8 kilometres of the Victoria Nile was submerged when the power of this water was diverted to form the new hydro-electric dam. This portion of falls and rapids was and is still known as Bujagali or Budhagali deriving its name from the Bachwezi spiritual leader called Mandwa Budhagali who lived nearby.Locals believe that the spirit Budhagali has manifested itself in over 30 human spiritual leaders. The succession procedure follows that whoever claims to be the new spiritual leader following the death of the previous one is given the task of floating across the river on a piece of backcloth, to demonstrate his/her magical powers. If he/she performs this task successfully, then he/she is declared the new spiritual leader. This ceremony takes place in the presence of other spiritual leaders, the local chiefs and the residents. I believe God wasn’t done with the beauty that once was Bujagali Falls and so at the spot where they were submerged a beautiful lake was formed from the water that collected and in memory of the Bujagali Falls we now have Bujagali Lake.

Those that have watched the Sound of Music remember the Mother Superior say to Maria “when the Lord closes a door somewhere he opens a window”….. Well, with the submersion of Bujagali Falls, a window in the form of Itanda Falls was opened. This hidden jewel close by to the former Bujagali Falls is now being sought out and is slowly starting to gain popularity. I honestly think you would be doing yourself a disservice if you visited the source of the Nile and left Jinja without going by the Itanda Falls to see the Nile go over 3 levels of rapids. Looking at the Nile powerfully go by and wave playfully as if to say “see me go” isn’t a sight to miss. The sound of the Nile conquering the rapids to ensure it doesn’t miss a beat on its way to the Mediterranean Sea- now that’s musical! Locals still believe that this place is sacred and refer to it as a Blessed Place. They go to seek blessings and miracles at the base of a tree nearby.

You danced gracefully with River Sezibwa in the River dance and now I bring you the Sezibwa Falls. With a beautiful hissing sound the falls emerge from the rocks above split into two and then fall down into a catchment allowing the river to continue calmly on his way. The serene atmosphere at the falls I would think is what made this place quite the attraction to the Buganda Kings (Ba Ssekabaka). It is said that Ssekabaka Mwanga II planted a giant tree at the site out of respect and high esteem. Later on Ssekabaka Mutesa II also planted another tree in the same place as a sign of reverence as well. Many Baganda and non-Baganda now flock the place to seek wealth, marriage stability, and prosperity among many other things. I have heard that it was customary back in the day and a practice for any Muganda going by that way to throw a handful of grass or stones into the source at Namukono for blessing upon blessing.

Tucked away in what is known as the Switzerland of Uganda are the 27 meter high Kisiizi Falls found on River Rushoma in Rukungiri District. A gentle shower of water droplets welcomes visitors from about 100 meters away to Kisiizi Falls. These droplets capture and reflect the hot Ugandan sun to create beautiful rainbows. Now isn’t that something you would want to experience firsthand? Like most places in Uganda there is a story, a very true one at that about the Kisiizi Falls. In the very olden days long before the missionaries came, if a girl fell pregnant before she got married,  her father and brother would walk her to the top of the falls and push her down where she would meet her death. The practice is said to have stopped when one girl pulled her father and brother along with her when they pushed her down the falls. As if to counter the previous negativity one of the best hospitals in the western region- Kisiizi Hospital was set up and is now dedicated to giving life and restoring hope to thousands.

Sipi Falls! And the assumption is that it is just one falls. Truth is it is actually a series of three waterfalls but the highest one, about 95 meters high is the more known one. These waterfalls are found in Eastern Uganda in Kapchorwa. Breathtaking beauty that causes you to stop and worship the Creator, a slippery hike along the slopes of Mount Elgon and cave encounters is what you will experience as you do your 7km loop around all three waterfalls.

Time does us an injustice for I would have told you about the Mpanga Falls that harbor the nearly extinct cycad forest, the Mahoma waterfall which is small but possesses such an attractive power shower, the Mungiro waterfalls, the Nkusi waterfalls and the Karuma Falls.
